1) A series of films that follows Todorovs theory is The Lord Of The Rings trilogy . Initially, the movie starts off with Frodo living happily in the shire with his uncle, Bilbo and they are about to celebrate his "eleventy first" birthday, so all their friends gather to celebrate this, including Frodo's best friend- Sam. They are all having a great time.- This is the Equilibrium as there is an existing state of harmony. However, as the movie progresses the harmony is disturbed by an unfortunate event as Frodo has no choice but to go on a quest to get rid of a ring which he found in his uncles house (Bilbo finds this in The Hobbit trilogy) so Sam is willing to go with him. The ring is dangerous and destructive and leads to a chain of unfortunate events , such as the Orks taking over, Frodo gets possessed by the ring and there is also a war etc. This happens a lot in the second movie. Factsheet 3: 1) Visual iconographies are very important because they use codes and conventions. An example which is used is Science-Fiction. - Star Wars and Star Trek 2) The examples which are provided for the importance of narrative in identifying genre are Independence Day, Deep Impact and The Day After Tomorrow. Icons    Index Symbols 2) Icons are very important in media texts because they allow the audience to see the literal sign . Its the physical resemblance to the signified and is the thing that is represented - for example in a Nike advert for trainers, the icon would be the trainers that are on sale.     Additionally, indexes are very important in media texts because it provides evidence of what's being represented, so for example is there is a fire , you would use an image of smoke to signify this. Therefore it implies another object or event. 3) Symbols are usually images that look attractive and catch the eye of audiences . Global brands may try and avoid symbols in their advertising and marketing because they don't want the audiences focus to shift from their products.
